Maximize Your ACH Rewards

It’s been two weeks since we launched ACH rewards and already people are stacking massive sats on mortgages and rents. But don't take my word for it.

ACH rewards allow you to earn bitcoin rewards on all your biggest monthly bills in ways you never could before.

The first question anyone ever asks when a new rewards program launches is “How can I maximize my rewards?” It’s a fair question, and as I continue to be a Fold cardholder looking to maximize my own rewards, I asked myself the same question.

It boils down to the more I use Fold for bitcoin buying, gift cards, and PayPal Bill Pay, the more ACH rewards I'll earn.

Let's get to it.

How Can I Maximize My ACH Rewards?

Each dollar I spend on Fold in non-ach payments earns me a dollar of ACH Bill Payments (Full FAQ) eligible for rewards the following month so I:

  1. Buy all my bitcoin on Fold - btcpricetool
  2. Pay every bill I can through PayPal Bill Pay to earn 0.5% back (how to)
  3. Use gift cards on Fold when available now count as 2X spend!
  4. Use my Fold Card everywhere else

Seems simple, let's break it down a little further.

But before we do, maybe you haven't tried out our ACH Bill Pay yet. Just navigate to your billers online billing portal, go to pay bill, and enter the account and routing number found in the Fold app as a payment method.

So how do I maximize my ACH Bill Pay Rewards?

Buy all my bitcoin on Fold

Fold was already my favorite place to buy bitcoin. For numerous reasons, of course, but my 2 priorities when I buy bitcoin are:

  • where can I get the most sats per dollar? (btcpricetool)
  • who am I supporting when I make my purchase?

Fold already checked both boxes because I got the most sats per dollar and I'm supporting a bitcoin-only company.

Now, I’m getting a minimum of 0.25% back on ACH bill pay that nearly eliminates almost any small spread - and when I’m getting 1.5% back - I’m actually making money when I buy bitcoin on Fold 🤯

There are some great bitcoin only services out there that I've used and love, but the opportunity cost of missing out on potential ACH rewards isn't worth it anymore.

Pay every bill I can through PayPal bill pay or directly via Fold Card

Every time I pay a bill via PayPal I get 0.5% back and counts towards my next month's ACH Bill Payments eligible for rewards! This Stack Hack has been one of your (and my) favorites. You can pay many major credit cards and store branded credit cards and earn 0.5% back when you link your Fold Card as a payment method.

A few major examples are:

  • Bank of America
  • Citi
  • AMEX
  • Discover
  • Barclays
  • Synchrony Cards

Synchrony is the bank behind many of your favorite store-branded cards.

  • Venmo CC
  • Amazon Store Card
  • Sam's Club Card
  • MyLowe's Rewards Credit Card
  • myWalgreens Credit Card
  • Verizon Visa
  • PayPal CC
  • and many more!

This benefit hasn’t changed at all. I still get 0.5% back on each bill.

Now with ACH rewards, not only do I get the 0.5% back for the bill, I also get 0.25% back - 1.5% in ACH rewards next month for the same dollar amount on a bill in the future that’s not available via PayPal bill pay like mortgages and student loans.

If you don’t have a mortgage or student loans (lucky you!) to pay, how about rent, utilities, phone, internet, cable, satellite, or life insurance premiums?

Use gift cards on Fold when available

Gift cards now count as 2X for calculating eligible ACH rewards for the following month. And I’m not sure if you’ve checked out our Gift Card tab lately, but our selection is insane! (Fold+ rates)

  • Amazon - 2.25%
  • Home Depot - 3%
  • Lowes's - 4%
  • Doordash - 4%
  • Kroger - 2.5%
  • Airbnb - 3.5%
  • IKEA - 4.5%
  • Uber - 3%
  • REI - 8.5%
  • Instacart - 3.5%
  • Chewy - 6%
  • Southwest Airlines - 4%
  • Callaway - 20%
  • Adidas - 10%
  • Under Armour - 10%
  • 100+ more go check it out!

Each time I buy one of those gift cards I’m getting up to 20% back AND I’m getting 2x dollar for dollar match in ACH payments eligible for rewards next month.

Example: in August I buy

  • $500 of Amazon at 2.25% back for something I probably don't need
  • $1000 of Lowe's at 4% back for a home project
  • $200 of DoorDash at 4% on delicious grub

That's an average of ~3.5% in bitcoin rewards from the gift cards AND that earns me $3400 worth of ACH Payments eligible for rewards in September!

Use My Fold Card Everywhere Else

When I can get the best rewards through Merchant Boosts like 3% back at Walmart, Target, Costco, Sam’s, Trader Joes, Aldi, H-E-B, etc, I do that. And it all adds to my ACH rewards eligible payments.

We realize we have a lot of “credit card users” among our cardholders. Some of you may prefer to use credit cards on a day-to-day basis. Brian Harrington, one of us, is one of them.

We provide a platform for you to maximize rewards on that. See #2 (PayPal Bill Pay). And if that bill can’t be paid via PayPal, you have numbers 1 (bitcoin), 3 (gift cards), and 4(Fold Card) to maximize your ACH Bill Payments eligible for rewards.

Summary: This may seem like an oversimplification, but the best way to maximize your ACH rewards is to funnel all of your favorite things to spend money on through Fold.

Choose your own adventure!

  • All bitcoin purchases (Direct-to-Bitcoin, Auto-Stack, Round-Ups, and one-time buys
  • PayPal Bill Pay to earn rewards on CC and other bills
  • Gift Cards to earn max rewards and earn 2x credit towards ACH Bills
  • Fold Card for daily use

So use them all, or just use what makes sense to you.

Keep stacking, Friends!
